I am the kind of girl who walks everywhere with
a notebook and a pen in her purse, always. I find almost everyday something
that inspires me, especially words, and I have to write them down so I won’t
forget them.
So today, I have watched a beautiful movie, Dead poet society. Besides make me cry at
the end, it’s filled my today’s diary page with extraordinary quotes. I usually
think how bad it is not to be able to understand foreign words; the meaning,
rhythm and essence are impossible to remain intact after the translation,
that’s why I have decided to write this post in English, so I can express
myself better (excuse moi if my
English is not perfect though).
What a wonderful world it would be if there
were more Mr Keating professors, don’t you think so? unfortunately I am sure
that they would be suppressed as he is in the film. I might look an idiot but I
have to confess that today, I have climbed on the table of my room to see how
things are seen from a different angle “we must constantly look at things in a
different way… just when you think you know something you have to look at it in
another way, even though it may seem silly or wrong you must try!”. I dare you
to do it right now, don’t you worry about what your roommate, wife or mum will think
about you, if they think you’re mad then you’re taking the right way!
Don’t let the world shut your mouth, don’t be
rude either. Do not forget the heading of this blog, “Speak your truth even if
your voice shakes”. In Mr. Keating’s words “you must strive to find your own
voice… the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at
all.” Worth to remember Thoreau’s thinking as well “Most man lead lives of
quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them”, don’t be
resigned to that. Break out. Dare to strike out and find new ground.
You might be conditioned by others’ opinions
about you and the way you behave, but you’re not limited by them, “you must
trust that your beliefs are unique your own, even though other may think them
odd or popular”. Robert Frost said “two roads diverged in the wood and I took
the one less traveled by and that made ALL the difference”; how amazing this
concept is! I can’t wait to meet all those courageous that took the odd path to
walk by, how many beautiful things we might be missing by following the
pre-established road… besides, anything beautiful is worth getting hurt for. ¡Seize
the day!
“… The
question, O me! so sad, recurring. What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here, that life exits and
identity.
That the powerful play goes on, and you may
contribute a verse.” (Walt Whitman)
Aye, aye Captain! ;)
